Non-Woven Fabrics

Non-woven fabric is produced by bonding fibres directly into a web -- mechanically, thermally or chemically -- without spinning yarn or weaving. This makes it markedly faster and cheaper to produce than woven or knitted fabric, and it is why non-wovens dominate single-use and technical applications. Ashelby International supplies non-wovens from 15 to 250 GSM at widths of 20 to 160 inches.

We supply spunbond, meltblown and needle-punched constructions, and the manufacturing route determines the application. Spunbond produces continuous filaments bonded into a strong, relatively open web, used for hygiene product components, packaging and agricultural covers. Meltblown produces extremely fine fibres forming a dense web with high filtration efficiency -- this is the barrier layer in surgical and respiratory masks. Needle-punched fabric is mechanically entangled to produce a thick, dimensionally robust felt used in geotextiles, automotive interiors and filtration.

Weight range spans a wide span of uses: 15 to 40 GSM for lightweight hygiene and medical disposables, 40 to 100 GSM for packaging and protective apparel, and 100 to 250 GSM for geotextile and industrial constructions.
