Cotton Ring Spun Yarn

Ring spinning remains the benchmark system for cotton yarn where smoothness, strength and next-to-skin comfort matter. Ashelby International supplies cotton ring spun yarn across counts from 10s to 60s Ne.

Our ring spun yarn is supplied with tenacity of 18 to 22 g/tex, elongation of 5 to 7 per cent and twist of 12 to 25 turns per inch. The wide count range covers very different fabrics: 10s to 20s Ne for denim, heavier knits and home textiles; 30s to 40s Ne for standard t-shirt jersey and shirting; 50s to 60s Ne where fine, lightweight and high-definition fabrics are required. Twist is set against the count and end use -- higher twist increases strength and gives a crisper handle, lower twist a softer and loftier one.

Compared with open end yarn at the same count, ring spun is stronger, smoother and less hairy, producing fabric with better surface definition and a softer hand. It costs more per kilogram, which is the trade-off: for next-to-skin apparel and premium retail programmes the difference is visible in the finished garment, while for workwear or coarse upholstery open end is usually the more sensible specification.
